An aspect of Visionary Realism comes from allowing images to emerge spontaneously or allowing images to be revealed as layers of random markmaking are built up on the canvas. This is the case in the Blue Bather. As I applied random scribbles followed by layers of random,colored shapes, I began to see a figure. I coaxed her out and she began to speak to my imagination, telling me her story of the time she was bathing in a tropical pond and what a deep and sensual experience it was.
